Aleksei Vladimirovich Zagorodnikh was born in 1955 in Voronezh, Russia. He graduated from the Voronezh Art School in 1980. He studied with the artist V.V. Shavrin. He began exhibiting his works regularly in municipal, regional, zonal, All-Russian and international exhibitions in 1977.

Zagorodnikh has been head of the People’s Art Studio in the Komintern Palace of Culture since 1990. His works can be found in the Belgorod State Art Museum, the Lisky Museum of History and Regional Studies, and the Gruene Schlange Gallery in Schopfheim, Germany, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad. The artist has a reputation of being an artist-philosopher and an artist-pilgrim. He is prolific in the genres of portrait, landscape and still life. He lives and works in Voronezh.
