Vladimir Vyacheslavovich Zagonek was born in 1946 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). He studied at the Repin Institute of Art from 1965 to 1971 in the studio of E.E. Moiseyenko. He began exhibiting his works in 1971.
He became a member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR in 1973. He has participated in republican, All-Union, and international exhibitions. Personal exhibitions include:
- 1996: Scientific research museum of the Academy of Arts
- 2004: Ashville, NC, USA
Zagonek holds the title “Honored Artist of the Russian Federation”.
He lives and works in St. Petersburg and is currently a professor and head of a studio in the Repin Academy of Arts. His works are exhibited in the museums of St. Petersburg, in the Radischev museum in Saratov, and other museums of Russia, as well as in private collections in Great Britain, France, Sweden, the Czhech Republic and the United States.
His works have been published in several books and journals, including:
