Yablonskaya, Tatyana Nilovna (Nikolaevna)

Tatyana Nilovna Yablonskaya was born in Smolensk on February 24, 1917. She studied at the Kiev Art Institute from 1935 to 1941 under F. Krichevsky. Active in Kiev, Ukraine, she began exhibiting in 1939.

Important shows include:

  • ‘All-Union Art Exhibition’, Moscow, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1952, 1955.

Well-known works include:

  • “Corn” (1950. Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow).
  • “Morning” (1954. Tretyakov, Gallery, Moscow).
  • “A Wedding” (1963).
  • “Youth” (1969).

She taught at the Kiev Art Institute from 1944 to 1952 (53?), and later from 1966 to 1973.

She became a corresponding member of the Academy of Art in 1953 and a full member of the Academy (an academician - one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Russian artist) in 1975. She was awarded the USSR State Prize in 1950, 1951 and 1979, and received the title of “People’s Artist of the USSR”.

She was a leading Ukrainian figurative painter.
