Gennadi Vladislavovich Ulybin was born in 1973 in the Ukraine. As is the case with most artists from the former Soviet Union, his training in art began at a very young age. After completing training at the Children’s Art School, he entered the Kharkov State Art College from which he graduated in 1992. He passed the rigorous entrance examinations at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture and earned the right to study for six years in the studios of St. Petersburg master artists. He studied easel painting under the late professor Neprintsov.
Ulybin is a member of the St. Petersburg Artists’ Union.
He admires the Russian draftsman Chistyakov and the painters Repin and Serov. The Renaissance artists and Dutch masters are his main influences from the West. He is interested in all genre and media.
Ulybin is quiet in conversation but speaks with conviction where art is concerned.
Paintings and drawings by Ulybin are in private collections in Russia, England, Germany, Italy, Poland, Afganistan, Finland, and the United States.
His works have been published in various books and journals, including:
