Igor Vladimirovich Suvorov was born in 1932 in St. Leningrad. He has been fascinated by the city of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) all his life. He has sought to capture the mood of the city’s streets, canals, and untimately its great river Neva. At the same time, has has set about recording St. Petersburg in those poignant years of the Czars and the Ballet Russe, before the 1917 revolution. Working with old photographs and documents, he has reconstructed scenes his parents remembered before many churches and other important buildings were swept away.
Suvorov’s paintings are in museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Pushkin, Volga, and Karelia.
His works have been published in various books and journals, including:
- “Academichka.” Alexander Borovsky. The Pushkin Group, Albuquerque, NM, 1999.
- “Moscow - Petersburg 2001. Catalog of a Large Exhibition of Artists.”
