Sokolov, Aleksei (Alosha) Leonidevich

Aleksei “Alosha” Leonidevich Sokolov, a fourth-generation artist, was born on January 21, 1981. He began his art training at a very young age, in the Russian tradition, beginning at the middle school associated with the Repin Institute of Art in St. Petersburg at age ten. He recently graduated and began work at the Repin in the fall of 1999 at age 17.

In addition to his formal schooling, Alosha has had outstanding mentoring from his grandfather, Aleksei Sokolov, a very well-known St. Petersburg artist and professor at the Repin. Another inspiration is his father, Leonid Sokolov.

Alosha has exhibited his works in Russia and the United States and has sold some works in both countries.
