Polina Shakalo was born in 1937. She graduated from Dnepropetrocsk Art School in 1958. She became a member of the Artists Union of USSR in 1971. Shakalo held a personal exhibition in 1974. She was given the title of Honored Artist of USSR in 1993.

- ‘All Union National Exhibition Dedicated to the Poet T. G. Shevchenko’ (1964)
Shakalo’s paintings have been exhibited in a number of events throughout the USSR and Ukraine.
