Mikhail Alekseevich Ryasnyansky, Honored Artist of the Ukraine, was born in the town of Taganrog in 1926. After the war he studied at Rostov College of Arts. In 1950 he was admitted to the Kiev Institute of Arts.
In 1956 he joined the Union of Artists of the USSR. For three years he taught painting Kiev Institute of Arts and for six years at the Kishinev College of Arts. Since 1970 he has been living and working in the Nikolaev town of Odessa.
As an artist Ryasnyansky is known as a master of the painting genre which today is called “social realism”. He thinks that artists such as I. E. Repin, T. N. Yablonskaya, and S. Grigoriev are the closest to himself in spirit.
Ryasnyansky’s works are in the collections of the following museums:

His works have been exhibited at many All-Union, Republic, and international exhibitions. He has had one-man shows in Nikolaev in 1968, in Moscow in 1988, and in Kiev in 1997.
