Repkina, Veronika

Photo

Veronika Repkina was born in St. Petersburg in 1966. After graduating with highest marks in 1994 from Andrei Mylnikov’s monumental painting studio at the Repin Institute of Art, Repkina was given the honor of a postgraduate creative studio.

Repkina is best known for her landscapes and portraits. Her work has been influenced by the Renaissance movement and the World of Art movement. It is characterized by the refined lines and subtle treatment of light and shade found in the paintings of Rafael and Botticelli. This is coupled with poetic fantasies, dreams, and the highly refined manner and taste for retrospective stylization found in the works of Benois, Bakst, Borisov-Musatov, and Samov. Repkina has an enormous sense of drama and theater.

Her works have been published in various books and journals, including:

  • “Tradition Rediscovered.” CommonPlace Publishing, New Canaan, CT.
