Nikolai Nikitavich Repin was born on October 25, 1932 in the Kursk Region. His earliest exposure to art was through his grandfather, Ilya. He enjoyed drawing from boyhood. Feodor Petukhov, a drawing teacher in the area, started giving him lessons. Nikolai went on from there to study at the Leningrad Pedagogical Art College until 1956 and then at the Repin Institute of Art in the monumental painting studio under academician Andrei Mylnikov. In 1964 he graduated with honors. While still doing post-graduate work at the Institute, Repin was invited by the artist Ugarov, then rector of the Academy, to teach in his studio where they worked together for many years.
Nikolai Repin lives and works in St. Petersburg. His works are primarily portraits and landscapes of Northern Russia. He is a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia and has won awards in shows by the Union. He is currently a professor of the department of painting at the Repin Institute. He is an Academician of the Peter’s Academy of Sciences and Arts. He holds the title “People’s Artist of Russia”.
Nikolai Repin has participated in numerous St. Petersburg, republic, All-Union and international exhibitions, including:

He has also had other personal exhibitions in cities such as Kranstadt and Milan. His works can be found in numerous museums in and private collections worldwide.
