Vladimir Simonovich Pyesikov was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1939. After graduating from art school he was accepted into the Repin Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture where he studied in the studio of academician A.A. Mylnikov until his graduation in 1964.

In 1964 he began his teaching career. Three years later he completed his post graduate courses at the Repin Academy, again in the studio of A.A. Mylnikov. Pyesikov is currently a professor and head of the chair of painting and composition at the Repin Academy. He is also prorector-curator of the studying process there.

He has been a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists since 1967 and has participated in many municipal, all-Russia and international shows all over Russia and in many other countries.

Important shows include:

  • 1984, 1989, 2003: Personal exhibitions at the Museum of the Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg
  • 2002, 2003, 2005: Personal exhibition in China
  • 2003: Personal exhibition in St. Petersburg

Pyesikov has been awarded the title “People’s Artist of Russia”. His work can be found in museums and private collections in Russia as well as other countries such as Italy, Germany, Korea, China, and the United States.

His works have been published in various books and journals, including:
