Ivan Mikhailovich Lisakov was born on June 16, 1918 in the village of Dmitrievka in the Ryazan region of Russia (200 km from Moscow). He began studying at the Ryazan Art and Music Teachers’ Training School (the Ryazan Art School) in 1934. His studies were interrupted by the Great Patriotic War (World War II) between 1941 and 1945. After the war he returned to the Ryazan Art School and graduated in 1948, when he began participating in numerous art exhibitions.
Important exhibitions include:
- Republic Exhibition of Artworks of Artists of Russian Federation Territories, Regions and Automomous Republics: 1950 and 1952, Moscow
- The Inter-Regional Art Exhibition: 1955, Voronezh
- Personal exhibition: 1956, Ryazan
Lisakov became a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia in 1968. He took part in Zone, Republican, and All-Union exhibitions. His works can be found in many art museums around Russia.

- Ryazan Historical and Architectural Conservation Museum
- Ryazan Regional Art Museum
Lisakov lived and worked in Ryazan until his death in 2001.
