Vasili Petrovich Kosenkov was born in Milyatino, Smolensk province, in 1919. He studied at the Art-Craft College of the Dulevo ceramics factory around 1937, and at the Moscow Art Institute/Surkiov Institute from 1940 to 1949.
He began exhibiting his works in 1949.
Important shows include:

- ‘All-Union Art Exhibition’; Moscow, 1951.
He specialized in genre paintings and landscapes. He died in 1992.
