Julia Klimova was born in Kamensk, Russia in 1976. She was educated at the Kamensk Art School for Children from 1985 to 1990. She then studied at the Rostov State Pedagogical University from 1995 to 2000, where she received her MA in Fine Arts.
From 2000 to 2003 she worked as an Interior Designer in Russia. In 2004 she left Russia and now lives and works in Knoxville, Tennessee and St. Johns, Newfoundland.
