Vasili Petrovich Gusarov was born on May 1, 1937, in Odessa in the Baltic region.
In 1958 he completed studies in the painting department at the Odessa Art College. From 1961 to 1967 he studied in the monumental-decorative painting department at the Art School named after Mukhina, in the studio of Professor Gleb A. Savinov.
He began exhibiting his works in 1965. From 1967 to 1978 he taught painting and composition at the Mukhina. In 1975 he became a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia.
He has worked in different artistic techniques such as tapestry, mosaic, painting, encaustics and stained-glass windows in the interiors of more than twenty public buildings.
He has participated in many Russian and international symposiums and exhibitions.
