Nikolai P. Esin was born in Dmitriev-Usad on November 25, 1960. He graduated from secondary school in 1978. He then studied at the Art Department of the Teacher College of Schalki from 1979 until 1982. He went on to study at the Art Faculty of the Teacher Institute from 1982 until 1987 in Cheboksars. He entered the Repin Institute of Art in St. Petersburg in 1989 and studied there until his graduation in 1996.
Since 1995 he has exhibited in city and republic exhibitions. His paintings can be found in private collections in the United States, France, and Italy.
He is known for his portrait and landscape paintings.
