Eremeev, Oleg Arkadevich

Oleg Arkadevich Eremeev was born in Krasnoe Selo, Petrograd province, in 1922. He studied at the Leningrad Art College from 1938 to 1941, suspending his studies during World War II. After the war he continued his studes in 1948 and graduated in 1951. He then studied at the Repin Institute of Art under the guidance of B. G. Ioganson from 1951 until 1957, when he graduated with honors. He continued his studies in the creative studios of the USSR Academy of Arts in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) from 1957 until 1961.

Active in Leningrad, he began exhibiting his work in 1957. Important shows include ‘Soviet Russia’, Moscow, 1960. He is a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia. Other titles and awards include:

  • Academician: member of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts
  • People’s Artist of Russia
  • Winner of the Gold Medal of the Academy of Fine Arts.

He has been teaching at the Repin Institute since 1957, and from 1990 to 2001 he was the Rector of the Repin Institute. Currently Eremeev is the head of the department of painting and has a personal studio. He has taken part in St. Petersburg, All-Union and international exhibitions. Important personal shows include:

His works are owned by many museums in Russia, Britain, the United States, Germany, Korea, China and Japan.
