Galina Efmenova was born in St. Petersburg. She graduated from the V. I. Mukhina technical school and began exhibiting her works in 1971. She became a member of the Artists’ Union in 1975. She has had exhibitions in Russia and abroad and has works in private collections in New York, England, France, and Germany. She frequently paints with her husband, artist Anatoli Efmenov.
