Eduard Bragovsky was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, 1923. He studied at the Vilnyus Art Institute until 1947 under Gudaitis and at the Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow from 1947 to 1953. His teachers at the Surikov included P.I. Kotov, V.V. Pochitalov, and V.K. Nechitaylo. His graduate work was entitled “Lenin on the Hunt”, which he completed under the guidance of P.I. Kotov. Active in Moscow, he began exhibiting in 1954 and has participated in numerous Moscow, Regional, Republican and All-Union exhibitions.

- One-man show, Spain, 1992.
- Personal exposition representing the Artists’ Union of Russia at the Art Salon, 2000.
He was a leading ‘Moscow School’ painter of the 1960s and later. He was awarded the title “Honored Artist of Russia” in 1989, and was the State Prize of Russia laureate. He became a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts in 2001.
His paintings are in the permanent collection of many museums and galleries, including the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, and in numerous other regional museums of Russia, as well as private collections worldwide.
His work has been published in numerous books and journals, including:
