Borisov, Ivan Stephanovich

Painter and graphic artist Ivan Stephanovich Borisov was born in the city of Perm, Russia, in Isayevshina Village in 1925. In 1951 he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Art College, and in 1957 he graduated from the Industry and Art Institute, named after V. I. Mukhina, in Leningrad. He began participating in exhibitions in 1957.

His worked in a variety of media: monumental art, ceramics, and painting. His first watercolors were exhibited in the 1960s and attracted the public’s attention immediately.

Borisov traveled much and this is evident in his landscapes of the Urals, Siberia, the Caucasus, Crimea, Middle Asia and the Baltic Republics. His industrial landscapes are highly esteemed. He was a very skilled and progressive artist and was especially good with color. This gift was noted by his teacher, professor and well-knkown painter G. A. Savinov, Leningrad.

Borisov’s works can be found in the state Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow.
