Bekhova, Yulia


Yulia Bekhova was born in St. Petersburg in 1964. She studied at the Repin Academy of Art in the studios of Professor and Academicia Andrei Mylnikov, graduating in 1995. Her diploma work is now in the Museum of the Repin Academy. For two years after her graduation she worked as an assistant to professor Mylnikov at the Academy.

She has been a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia since 1996. That same year she took first prize in an art competition entitled “St. Petrsburg Muses”. In 1999 she became a member of the Presidentís Union of Artists. In 1999 she participated in the decoration of the Cathedral of Christ Saviour in Moscow. In 2000 she began teaching at the I.E. Repin Academy of Art.

She has been a regular participant in expositions of the St. Petersburg branch of the Artists’ Union. Important exhibitions and competitions include:

  • 1997: Exhibition “Sphinx” at Murmansk
  • 1998: Exhibition “Resurrection”, Palace Beloselsky-Belozersky, St. Petersburg
  • 1998: “Brilliant St. Petersburg”, Herborn, Germany

  • 2000: J&B Gallery Hollandsche Rading, The Netherlands
  • 2001: Agnietenkapel Gouda, The Netherlands
  • 2001: Townhall Reeuwijk, The Netherlands
  • 2002: J&B Gallery Hollandsche Rading, The Netherlands
  • 2003: The Tree House, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Her works can be found in the Museum of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg as well as in private collections in Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, the U.K. and the United States.
